Hello Movie Goers,

We’re starting on our line-up for January starting with “Bride Wars” and “The Tale of Despereaux”. Paramount said we could get “Hotel for Dogs” on the 16th!

I’d love to get two movies on the break every week, but the film studios like us to keep them longer, so we won’t be able to get everything we want on the break. We always try for the new releases first, then add in the ones we didn’t show on the break as we can. It’s always hard to pick and choose, and very hard to let some movies pass us by.

I want to thank everyone for coming during the holidays. We sold 170 tickets on Christmas Day for the opening of “Marley and Me” and “Bedtime Stories”. Both our Fox and Disney representatives were happy to hear how well their shows (Disney called it “their product”) have been doing here.

These past two weeks have been amazing!

Hello Movie Goers,

We’re holding “Bedtime Stories” and “Marley and Me” for another week and will continue having the 4:15 matinee for the rest of the week.

The January 9th movies are undecided. Many of our representatives at the film studios are taking the week off this week, so it will be Monday before anything gets settled.

The Los Potros Mexican restaurant in Tuscola has place mats with a free movie pass for Gemini Cinemas on them. The Hen House in Arcola will start using the place mats too. Go to dinner and get a free pass for the movies!

Hello Movie Goers,

We are so excited for our holiday movies! We will be open every day during the week for a 4:15 pm movie as well as the 7:00 movie. Monday – Friday, December 22 – January 2nd. The weekends will follow the regular schedule.

Both “Bedtime Stories” and “Marley and Me” will open on Christmas Day. We are getting mini-posters of “Bedtime Stories”. Hopefully they will arrive before Christmas Day.

We’re planning on getting “The Tale of Despereaux” mid-January. There were several school classes interested in seeing it, so we decided to wait until after the holidays to get it here. We’ll keep you posted.

Hello Movie Goers,

We are looking forward to the latest James Bond movie, “Quantum of Solace”! We might only have it for one week.

“Twilight” seems to be one of those shows that people are coming to see more than once. It will show through the 11th.

Upcoming: 20th Century Fox will let us know about “The Day the Earth Stood Still” starting on Dec. 12th. I’ve also let them know that we would love to get “Marley and Me” on the break for Christmas. There are too many movies to get all the ones we’d like, but we will fit in as many as we can.

There’s good news and bad news. The good news is we still get “Twilight”, the bad news is we have to wait for “Bolt” because of a scheduling difficulty. We’re so sorry for the confusion and inconvenience. We thought we were all set, but didn’t realize we had a longer run time commitment to keep for “Madagascar II”. Paramount has done a lot for our theater, so we’re glad to keep our commitment to them.

We are unable to sell advance tickets. Tickets will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.

We finally get “High School Musical 3”!

Great news for the Thanksgiving Holiday: We get two movies on their opening
night on November 21st: “Twilight” and “Bolt”! There will be a midnight movie
of “Twilight” at 12:01 am early Friday morning. The Box Office will open at
11:30 pm on Thursday. “Twilight” has a 3 week run commitment and “Bolt” has a 2
week run commitment, then we’ll see what we can work in from there.

We had a great turnout for the Halloween Midnight movie of “The Addams Family”!
That was just fun.

We’re excited about getting Madagascar 2 on Friday. We’ll keep it at least a
couple of weeks. We’ve been confirmed for “Twilight” on the break (11-21-08)!
It will be here for 3 weeks, and I will make sure we have permission for the
midnight showing for it.

High School Musical – we’re aiming for the 14th.

Quantum of Solace – we will get it a little later than the break. We’re huge
James Bond fans.

Nights in Rodanthe – still working on.

Fireproof – still working on.

Bolt – I think it’s only in digital, and we don’t have a digital projector yet,
but I’ll check for sure.

There are several others we are trying to work in as soon as we have a slot or
as soon as the studio will let us have it.

We still have to wait for Beverly Hill’s Chihuahua. There wasn’t a “Nights in
Rodanthe” available yet, either.

I can guardedly say that there is a good chance of us getting “Twilight” on the
national break, November 21st! I’m not exactly sure what all the factors
involved are, something about the trade screening and how well it does as to how
many prints are made, but we are tentatively a go.

Remember “The Addams Family” midnight movie for Halloween! We’ve been
remembering our favorite scenes from it lately. Free glow in the dark bracelets
and pop rocks for the first 50 people. Bring your party to the theater!

Ghost Town & IGOR

We’ve got good pre-Halloween movies this week. We will also be showing them
Monday, October 13th at 1:00 for anyone that needs something to do on Columbus
Day.

Disney will let us know on the 13th about “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” starting the
17th. We’re still looking to get “Nick and Nora’s Ultimate Play List”, “Nights
in Rodanthe” and “Eagle Eye” this month. We’ll get “The City of Ember” as soon
as we can along with “High School Musical 3”, but neither one will be on the
national break.

Paramount said we could have “The ADDAMS Family” for our Halloween midnight
movie! We’ll have glow-in-the-dark bracelets and pop rocks for the first 50
people! The box office will open at 11:30 pm on Oct. 31st.

I was once again told ‘next week’ for “Beer for My Horses”. I’m hoping to show it along with “Igor” next week. “Fireproof” – left many messages, no return call yet. “Nights in Rodanthe” - have to wait. “Appaloosa” – have to wait. “Beverly Hill’s Chihuahua” – have to wait. “City of Ember” – have to wait. It’s just that time of year when the studios don’t make as many prints of their films because they know they’re not going to have big block busters.

We thought that since Halloween is on a Friday, it would be fun to have a midnight show on Halloween and also the next night. We’re looking at several classic titles, but we’ll have to see if there are any prints available.

The Long Shots start Friday!

Hello Movie Goers,

It's been a tough week to get movies. I managed to get "The Long Shots" to play for a week. I was told to pencil in "IGOR" for October 3rd. Every time I call about "Beer for My Horses" they tell me to wait another week. I asked about "Nights in Rodanthe". I'll find out more later in the week. "Fireproof" is on limited release on Sept. 26th, so we'll most likely have to wait a little.

We were really lucky to get "The Women". We have a film transport service that picks up films for us at the St. Louis depot. They bring the films as far as Mattoon where we pick them up from a storage locker. The films got dropped off Thursday afternoon but when I got there, only "Young @ Heart" was sitting there. I called the transport people and there wasn't even a print of the movie in the depot for us. The studio told me our request was confirmed on Monday, but something went wrong. "The Women" ended up being shipped from Seattle, Washington overnight and arrived here Friday afternoon at 1:00 after being picked up by a courier service at the airport in Savoy. That's cutting it a little too close!

We’re getting “The Women” on the break! We’re also getting “Young@Heart” which has been out for awhile, but it looks like a true classic to see, feel good and laugh.

We’re not in MGM’s top 2500 theaters for IGOR, so we’ll have to wait a couple of weeks for it, and I’m still working on “Beer for My Horses”. I was told 9/19 for it. I’m still working on “Fireproof”, but haven’t got a firm answer yet.

Thanks for the great support for the Labor Day matinees. We enjoyed sharing the
holiday with you.

Sony said there wasn’t a print of “The House Bunny” for us yet after all. Minor heart attack, since it’s Tuesday and the movies are usually set up on Monday and last week they said there probably would be one available.

Warner Bros. came through with a print of “Journey to the Center of the Earth” for us. Sorry it isn’t in 3-D. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s very entertaining. We’ll tentatively be showing “The House Bunny” starting Sept. 12, and we are also tentative for “The Women” with Meg Ryan, Bette Midler, Annette Bening, Eva Mendes, Cloris Leachman, Carrie Fischer and Candice Bergan to name a few…

We’re still looking into “Fireproof” for 9-26. I’ve left several messages, but no call back yet. I’ve talked with someone about the “Billy: The Early Years” show starting October 10th as well.

We enjoy seeing familiar faces and new faces at the movies. Thanks for coming!

"Traveling Pants" & "Henry Pool"

We've got great movies for the Labor Day weekend! Our booking agent at Warner Bros. said she saved a print of "Traveling Pants" for her favorite people, and we get to show "Henry Poole is Here" as well. When I called Overture films about showing Henry Poole, he asked what lead me to that show since we're showing some big title films right now with "Swing Vote" and "Clone Wars". I answered that it was because we show family friendly movies, and we have a community of movie goers with good values. He said that made sense and booked it for us for Friday. Henry Poole looks like a very entertaining comedy.
LABOR DAY - We are pleased to have two afternoon matinees at our regular matinee times; 1:45 and 4:15!

Swing Vote starts Friday!

We'll have Clone Wars for one more week, and Swing Vote for a week. We've come to the time of year where the film companies aren't making as many prints of their films. That means we have to wait sometimes for the ones we want instead of getting so many on the break like we did all summer.

"Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants II" wasn't available yet. "Henry Poole is Here" wasn't available in this area yet, and "Beer for My Horses" was taken. We'll call again after Labor Day. "The House Bunny" should be available in a couple of weeks. We're also looking at "Fireproof".

"Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince" has a postponed release date for next summer.

We are licensed to start “The Clone Wars” at 12:01 Friday, so the box will open at 11:30 pm Thursday Aug. 14th.

We’ve got a great combination this week with “Mama Mia” and “The Clone Wars”! We’ll have these shows for the last week of Tuesday and Thursday 1:00 matinees for the summer.

It’s been fun seeing American Girl dolls being brought to the Kit Kitteredge show. I wonder if anyone will bring their light sabers to Clone Wars! Just Kidding!!

Hello Movie Goers,

This Friday we are pleased to show “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor”. Our Universal representative said that normally a small theater like ours wouldn’t be able to show it on the break, but things worked out just right!

The second week of “Dark Knight” has been pretty strong, we’ll have it one more week. It will end on August 7th. We’re not quite sure what we’ll replace it with, but we’re looking at “Mama Mia”. We have to wait on “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”. Still no word about “Kit Kitteridge”, but we keep trying.

AG Days, we talked to the classic film division of Warner Bros. They are sending us a Looney Tunes Six Pack featuring Bugs Bunny, Tweety and Road Runner! We’ll be showing these starting Friday at 1:00 pm until the 7:00 shows and on Saturday from 9:15 am until the matinees start. Come cool off and take it easy for a few minutes during the Ag Days celebration. These cartoons are FREE!

Hello Movie Goers,

Thanks for hanging in there with us for the midnight movie last Thursday. There
were 29 people that came. We found out Tuesday just before noon that Warner
Bros. wanted us to have a midnight showing of Dark Knight. Actually they told
us we could not start the movie until 12:01 am Friday. Since advertising went
out on Monday, we had to scramble a bit. We managed to get the update in a
couple of papers, and our great website designer made the update with no
problem! Friday morning Warner Bros. called to see how the midnight show did.
They were hoping to break a record and as far as I can tell, they succeeded.
Every night we fax the information about how each movie did that day to two
different places that collect the data for the film studios. That’s how the
information gets put together about which movies are the top box office movies
that week, etc…

We find out a little later this week about “The Mummy 3” on the break (Aug.
1st). We looked at “Swing Vote” but cannot get it on the break since it is a
limited release. That means they don’t make a lot of prints, so we wait. I
will also find out this week about “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”.

Remember the 1:00 Tuesday and Thursday matinees that show through August 21st.
They’ve been great!

The Dark Knight & Space Chimps starting Friday!

Hello Movie Goers,

This Friday will be a big event for us: two shows on opening night! We almost
did that in February, but “Spiderwick” premiered on Thursday, Valentines Day,
and “Jumper” started on Friday, one day later.

Warner Bros. wants us to keep Dark Knight for 3 weeks, firm, and we’ll have
Space Chimps for at least two weeks.

We're still trying to get "Kit Kitteridge" for a week sometime, but haven't
heard back yet. We'll keep trying.

Universal isn’t sure if we can get “The Mummy” on the break yet, but we’re
keeping our fingers crossed. Warner Bros. knows we want “Sisterhood of the
Traveling Pants”, but they’re not quite ready to book that yet, although they
have already said we could have “Clone Wars” on the break; Aug. 15th.

We express it often, but it is heart felt; thank-you for your support, interest
and good wishes.

We’re still waiting to hear back about “Space Chimps”, but Warner Bros. said we could start “Dark Knight: Batman” on the 18th of July. There really are too many good movies to be able to show them all!

Wall-E and Hancock are coming!

We are so excited for “Wall-E”! This is our first Disney film that we get on
the national break. We have received Wall-E watches to give with each child
ticket purchase while supplies last. First come, first serve! Only one per
child’s ticket, not offered with adult tickets.

“Get Smart” ends with the last showing being Tuesday at 7:00 pm. Remember to
eat at the Villa Grove, Tuscola, Arcola or Tolono Subway for a “Get Smart” movie
pass. We’ve enjoyed seeing how well this advertising has worked.

Guess what? We get “Hancock”! It’s set to start on July 2nd, but we’ve
received permission to have a 9:30 pm showing of it on July 1st. Start the 4th
of July weekend early!

Remember the Tuesday and Thursday 1pm matinees! They’re a nice break during the
day.

"Get Smart" and "Wall-E" Promotions

“Kung Fu Panda” and “Get Smart”

Kung Fu Panda is doing well and is a very entertaining show. Children aren’t
the only ones enjoying it.

There’s a great promotion deal for “Get Smart” that we’re having with the Villa
Grove Subway. Buy a foot long or six inch meal with a 32 oz. “Get Smart” cup,
and get a free pass from Gemini Cinemas to see “Get Smart”! Buy food and get a
movie pass; it doesn’t get much better than that!

“Wall-E” is coming on June 27th. There’s a promotion with that too. With the
purchase of a child’s ticket for the show, "Wall-E", your child will receive a
“Wall-E” watch while supplies last.

The summer Tuesday and Thursday matinees are starting to pick up. Last Thursday
surprised us with 37 in attendance! That overwhelmed us a little. We
appreciate everyone’s patience as we scrambled to get everyone what they wanted
from concessions, with having to fill the ice bin up when it ran out, pop more
popcorn, change the root beer syrup to a new one when it ran out, and get the
movie started close to on time!

We love sharing these great summer movies with you.

Movies for June 13 – June 19, 2008
“Kung Fu Panda” and “The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian”

The film studios have been very good to us. “Prince Caspian” will play for one
week only, and will be replaced with “Get Smart” which will start on the break
here. “Wall-E” will also start on the national break, June 27th! When I talked
to Warner Bros. about “Get Smart”, I asked about “The Dark Knight” and “Clone
Wars”, they haven’t been confirmed yet, nor has “Hancock”, but the studios know
we would like to show them. “Kit Kitteredge: An American Girl” is going to have
to wait. Not enough prints were made for us to start it here. We’ll try to fit
“The Incredible Hulk” in when we can, but it won’t be this Friday.

Kung Fu Panda & Our Summer Movie Pass

Remember our new summer matinees on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1:00 pm! Our
Summer Movie passes will give you a little break off of the normal ticket
prices. With this deal, ticket prices start at $2.25 per ticket, but they are
only good for the 1:00 shows on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

We're talking to the film studios about "Prince Caspian" and also about
"Hancock" and "Get Smart". There are too many good summer films for us to get
all of them, but we're doing what we can. Some of them might have to wait until
things slow down a little in the fall.
